100 details for 100 days Day 23

Day 23
I thought today I would highlight a way to work a wisteria like growth over your block. This is a cluster of French knots with the leaves worked in detached chain. If stitching French knots are a bit of challenge you can substitute either Colonial knots or seed beads.

The vine stems are worked in whipped running stitch.

The seam embellishment you can see stitched diagonally along the top pointing left is a row of Oyster stitch and the row of stitching diagonally to the left is an arrangement of buttonhole stitch. All threads are the same weight as DMC pearl 5.

This is the block today’s detail comes from.

Lin of Purple Fan is new to the challenge and new to blogging. Pop over and welcome her

Debra of Design Studio and has more details on in her flickr album.

Susan of Plays with needles has been battling bullions and made some very interesting observations about how often students want instant gratification when learning to embroider. Her comments are so true as we often lose site of the fact that it is OK to take time to learn something and time to master something.

Annie Whitsed of Annies Crazy World has posted an embellishment detail using small Christmas bells!

Julia (aka Ribbonwiz) Camille’s Place has more details of her work posted.

Allison Aller has been using butterfly shaped sequins!

Bonnie of Dakini Dreams has posted her latest block.

Related but on a slightly different note, I have just discovered a new blog which has an emphasis on crazy quilting. Debbie of Needle Lil More Time To Sew has been posting eye candy since last month

For anyone just swinging by this series of posts are listed under 100 details for 100 days in this blog. Over on Flickr it is associated with the Crazyquilting Group and photos are tagged 100detailsin100days

  1. Hi Sharon
I’m happily keeping copies of all your 100 Details and will be joining in as soon as I can. Hope to work at least two a day so tht I can catch up! If you’re interested in having a look I’ve been posting pics of my unfinished round robin pieces on my blog (which is where I’m planning to use your wonderful details as an incentive to finish them). Thanks SO much for being so generous with your time and expertise. You are a special person!
