The Emergence of Advertising in America: 1850 – 1920 is a site that illustrates the rise of a consumer culture presenting over 9,000 images that relate to the early history of advertising in the United States. Anyone with an interest in the history of graphic design or visual culture will find this a great resource. Also since American advertising has influenced the industry world wide I think many people will find this site of interest.
