Introducing block 63

crazy quilt blockBlock 63 is another jewel tone that forms part of the central band of blocks that run diagonally across the I Dropped the Button Box quilt.

Jewel toned blocks are sometimes hard to photograph and I hope you can see this clearly. There is a photograph of the full quilt on the CQ details FAQ page and you can see a diagonal band running across the quilt. This block is part of that band.

All pieces are different. It was a way of using a sample of all the bits I had been hoarding! The on going item count listed below represents the items  documented to date in the crazy quilt details series of articles.

  1. i’ve really enjoyed having a look at the full quilt – i don’t quite know how i missed it before. interesting to see this block in it’s context with the colours meeting in the middle but pulling in both directions – the warm one way the cool the other. but i don’t know which way to let my eyes go cos i like both 🙂 i also like the way that in the middle you draw in hints of a lot of the colour themes that are going to happen elsewhere with the hint of green and gold and even the black. i like the way that the round of the buttons cuts into the rigid geometry of the lines. sometimes i’ve seen you do it with the sewing, but you’ve let the buttons do more of the talking this time and those pieces of lace. i like the art nouveau look of the scrap on the left.
