Today I would like to share the last close detail on block 73 of the I Dropped the Button Box Crazy Quilt.
If you click on the thumbnail of the block you will not only see it larger, you will be taken to a free pattern of the block and information about the fabrics I used when I made up the block.
This detail is a simple treatment for crazy quilting and one people always react to. It is a wide piece os satin ribbon which I tacked on to the block before securing it permanently using a row of chevron stitch worked on each side of the ribbon. I used a hand dyed cotton perle #5 thread. Along the middle of the ribbon I added 3 heart shaped novelty beads.
As I say, it is a simple and quick seam embellishment that because the ribbon is wide can add emphasis.
This article is part of a regular series which illustrates the hand embroidered seams, embellishments and decorations on my crazy quilt I dropped the button box. If you want to read more articles like this look under Crazy Quilt details category

Hi Marianne I agree it is simple yet effective –
This would be very easy for a beginner to do; yet it produces a very striking effect. I really like it.
