TAST Week 39

Fancy Herringbone Stitch is the stitch for TAST week 39. It is a fun decorative stitch to play with. It forms a strong but pretty line that makes an ideal border or as seam treatment in crazy quilting. You can work it in different threads. And you can lace this stitch with many novelty threads and ribbons or even novelty knitting yarns. Adding beads will give this stitch an extra zest. You will find a tutorial for Fancy Herringbone Stitch here.

Beyond TAST week 39

Triangular Feather Stitch
For Beyond TAST, I suggest you explore a version of feather stitch, Triangular Feather stitch. This stitch is good to work along the edge of a project or to use as a seam decoration in crazy quilting. If you add a bead or so it really takes on a different life. You can also build up patterns with this stitch if you work lines face-to-face or back-to-back; the pattern formed is different and makes a very interesting filling stitch. As Usual visit the tutorial to see how it is worked and have fun with  Triangular Feather stitch.

How to join TAST and where to share TAST week 39

If you are new to hand embroidery the challenge is to learn the stitch and share what you have learnt. If you are an experienced embroiderer, enjoy trying out the Beyond TAST stitch,  give your work a modern twist and share it online so beginners can see what can be done with a little imagination.

Stitch a sample, photograph it, put in online on your blog, or share it in the TAST facebook group or wherever you hang out online. Hashtags are #TASTembroidery and #PintangleTAST on places like Instagram etc. If you have a blog, leave a comment on the  Fancy Herringbone Stitch or the Triangular Feather stitch page.

If you need more information the challenge guidelines are on the TAST FAQ page.
