Stitch 79 in the Take a Stitch Tuesday ( TAST) is Whipped Spoke Stitch which I have to admit I love. You can work it in lines or circles or as part of a border or simple freeform as I have done in the sample above. As you can see using hand dyed cotton perle #5 thread I combined beads and Whipped Spoke stitch with French knots, Cast on stitch, bullion knots, and whipped wheel stitch. Tutorials to all of these stitches can be found in my Stitch Dictionary.
As Usual you can find a tutorial for stitch 79 – Whipped Spoke stitch in my Stitch Dictionary.
A little TAST News:
Next week I will post a challenge stitch then we will take a 2 week break to allow people to do a little catch up stitching if they need to. The break coincides with Easter so for busy families you can take a rest from the TAST challenge. If you are on track and not need to catch up I will be proposing another sort of stitch related mystery challenge for those who are totally addicted to TAST.
Join in on the challenge and share what you do with Stitch 79
The challenge guidelines are on the TAST FAQ page. If you are new to hand embroidery the challenge is to learn the stitches. If you are an experienced embroiderer push these stitches in creative manner and share with beginners what can be done with a little imagination.
Where to share: Stitch a sample, photograph it, put in online on your blog, flickr site, share it on Facebook or where ever you hang out online, and leave a comment on the Whipped Spoke Stitch page with your full web address. Don’t forget the http bit of the web address so that your address becomes a live link so that people can visit your site and see what you have done.
