100 details for 100 days Day 49

Day49
This seam embellishment was worked along the edge of some vintage lace which I hand dyed. The edge was not in good condition so I first covered it with a thin satin ribbon. I then stitched a row of Herringbone worked in DMC pearl 5. This row of stitching acted as a base for lacing with blue rayon ribbon floss using the same lacing technique as in a Twisted lattice band.

A row of detached chain arranged in a fan of three stitches, was worked in DMC pearl 8. These were worked in a zig zag formation along the side of the laced herringbone. At the base of every second detached chain cluster I used a small flower shaped jewellery finding with a single small bead stitched in the centre. On the top of the herringbone there is a small bead stitched.

I then threaded a fine knitting ribbon through the lace with a single detached chain stitched at the base of each scallop. What was a tatty piece of lace is now a feature on a block.

Janejellyby has used one of the seam embellishments on a pair of felted baby booties.

Hideko Ishida has worked two more of the details in her gentle hand.

Murial has two more seam embellishments in her flickr account.

Debbie of Needle Lil More Time to Sew has featured a cigarette silk surrounded by lace and hand embroidery.

Julia (aka Ribbonwiz) Camille’s Place has featured a lovely Kimono block. Julia is going to highlight seam treatments in this block over the next few days I am looking forward to seeing them.

Annie Whitsed of Annies Crazy World has highlighted how she stitches on charms to a crazy quilt block.

Rissa of Rissas Pieces is once again offering tips and advice on controlling your stitches by using a hoop.
