Susan of Plays with needles asked for a detail of the silk ribbon spray on the 8 inch crazy block I posted yesterday. So here it is.
The flowers are worked in 7 mm Japanese Ribbon stitch. I don’t have directions to work this stitch online – it is on my to do list but you can find directions for Ribbon Stitch here. The center is filled with French knots worked in a strand of DMC floss and strand of blending metallic thread. I added a small straight stitch to the middle of each petal. The buds are worked in same silk ribbon using a single detached twisted Chain stitch with a small straight stitch in th emiddle of the bud.
Twiggy bits are worked in Fly Stitch using 2 stands of DMC cotton floss topped off with a French knot worked in a silk thread which is the same weight as DMC pearl 5. The leaves are worked in closed fly stitch. These are worked in a strand of DMC floss and strand of blending metallic thread. stem stitch is used for the stems.
This morning Pam Kellogg of Kitty & Me Designs has some more charted designs for crazy quilt seam embellishments.
Yesterday after my post Pins and Needles loaded some interesting versions of the details. Karen South of Karen South’s Crazy Quilting World has posted some details of the lovely block she is working on and is trying to get fit.
Annie Whitsed of Annies Crazy World has some more things to do with ribbon on her blog.
For anyone just swinging by this series of posts are listed under 100 details for 100 days in this blog. Over on Flickr it is associated with the Crazyquilting Group and photos are tagged 100detailsin100days

I’m new to CQ having joined a yahoo group last year and jumped into a couple RRs with both feet. Being inundated at work has left me no stitching time and my dreams were being to ebb when in a post someone mentioned this blog. I’m so glad I found this! I can’t tell you how awe inspiring your work is and the links to others work is the cherry on top! My energy level has soared, my interest renewed and yes, I intend to join in too! Now to get a block whipped up so I can begin. Thank you thank you thank you!
Hi Sharon,
Just wanted to say thank you for the 100 Details In 100 Days project! It was a great idea that you had and has inspired me greatly!
And your stitching is just gorgeous! As always!!!
Good Luck Susan! I am wondering if I can make this look more like a daisy. . .off to town today to find ribbon.
Good luck Susan
Thank you! I LOVE this spray and I have just the place for something similar. Wish me luck…
