This band illustrates a favourite combination of feather stitch and French knots.
Both threads are hand dyed cotton which is about the same weight as perle thread 8 which was purchased in bulk from a weavers supplier.
This section of the sampler is worked on tea towel linen which is not quite an even weave.
Procion cold water dyes for threads.
All samples are 15 cm (6 inches) wide and stitched together in one long band sampler.
The sampler is currently 44 ft 5 inches or 533 inches (1353.83 centimetres) or 14.8 yards (13.53 metres) long and still being added to.
This section of the sampler is dated 1996 – Jan 1998

Hi Judy I do it in two passes. In fact this would be the case for all my stitching. I think in terms of a foundation row then another embellishment row. It is just the way I think/work
This is a beauty! The overdyed thread and the French Knots give it extra dimension and personality – I’ll be glad when I can get back to my needlepoint crazies.
Do you do the feather stitch and knots on separate passes, or simultaneously but from different needles?
