For the Love of Stitching Sampler – Band 70

This band illustrates two rows of stitches. The first is row  up and down buttonhole stitch. The second is a variety of chain stitch called two colour chain stitch. You can find directions on page 57 of The Embroidery Stitch Bible by Betty Barnden.

As I explained when I introduced this section of the sampler many of these stitch samples where worked to demonstrate stitches for The Young Stitchers group at the local branch of the Embroiderers Guild which I co-ordinated at the time. This version of chain  stitch is a lot of fun for young hands.
