crazy quilt block detail

Stitches:

This lace is edged with a combination of  straight stitch and  up and down buttonhole stitch.

Thread:

The up and down buttonhole is worked in rayon ribbon floss and the apricot straight stitch is stranded cotton floss. The metallic thread is a DMC metallic thread that is gold with a black twist of thread spun with it. It comes on a reel and named “antique gold”. It is marked Made in Belgium and would have to be one of my all time favourite metallic thread for hand work

Placement and Foundation Fabric:

This piece of lace is on piece 6 on the diagram published when I introduced block 8. In the same article I also talked about the foundation fabrics I used.

Lace:

This was received in a swap and dyed by me.

Dyes:

Disperse dyes (also known as transfer dyes) as the lace had some synthetic in it.

What is the story?
This regularly published series aims to illustrate and document the hand embroidered seams, embellishments and decorations on my crazy quilt I dropped the button box. All articles are categorised in the projects under Crazy Quilt details which enables readers to browse back through the series.
Free Crazy quilt block patterns
In the process of documenting the seam decorations on this quilt, as I get to each block I am diagramming it out for readers as a free crazy quilt pattern. Links to these free pattern pages are listed on the CQ details FAQ page.
