crazy quilt detail

The Detail:

This is seam first covered with braid. On the bottom edge of the braid I worked two rows of herringbone in bunka thread. This formed a band of herringbone stitches. The bottom row I interlaced with chenille thread and the top section of the band I interlaced with bunka thread. Along the edges of the row I added detached chain stitches and straight stitches.

The top edge of the braid is a far more simple treatment as it is straight stitches and seed beads. The thread is a hand dyed silk using procion dyes.

Placement on block:

On block 19 this lace runs along the edge of piece 6
