Section 37 of the For Love of Stitching Band Sampler was worked in February of 2009. It is worked on an evenweve fabric that is a linen cotton mix. The fabric 22 count so stitching was really easy on the eyes.
The embroidery threads are all hand dyed by me using procion dyes. Most are silk or perle cotton #5 and #8. When I dyed them, I did a batch of threads of different thicknesses and weight all at once. I used them on this sampler. Since the threads were all dyed in the same batch they went together well.
The combination of fabric that had an easy on the eye thread count, and since I did not have to think about thread choice, meant that for this section all I did was sit down and stitch!
As you can see I recorded my 53rd brithday on it. It was a relaxing time.
Size:
The For Love of Stitching Band Sampler is 15 cm (6 inches) wide. It consists of different strips of fabric which are are stitched together to form one long strip. It currently measures 24.8 yards or 22.75 metres long and I have more bands to add.
