Section 39 for the Love of Stitching band sampler

needlework free form band samplerSection 39 of  the For Love of Stitching Band Sampler was worked in  March of 2009.

The  For Love of Stitching Band Sampler has grown or morphed into part free form sampler and part  journal sampler. As you can see it was Autumn when I worked it. As I listened to the radio I was constantly made ill at ease about the state or our world.

St Patricks day is always big in house as Jerry usually has a number of shows to play at since his band plays Irish Australian  music. At the end of the month was earth hour which we always observe.

I used lots of  different threads in this section sampler. The embroidery threads are a mix of fibers. Most are hand dyed by me using procion dyes and are wool, silk or perle cotton #5 and #8. It is worked on an evenweave 27 count fabric.

I hope over the next few weeks you enjoy seeing the close up details of this sampler as I write about it band by band.

Size:

The For Love of Stitching Band Sampler is 15 cm (6 inches) wide. It consists of different strips of fabric which are are stitched together to form one long strip. It currently measures 24.8 yards or 22.75 metres long and I have more bands to add.
