I would like to introduce section 47 of my For love of Stitching band sampler which was stitched in December 2009. After the freeform nature of nature of section 46 I was a little concerned how it would sit next to it when I stitched the two strips together, but in the over all strip of the band sampler it works.
By this stage of the sampler the strip has so many types of embroidery, on different fabrics worked in all sorts of styles and colours that a Christmas themed section does not look out of place.
If you are not sure what I am chatting on about the For Love of Stitching Band Sampler is 15 cm (6 inches) wide. It consists of different strips of fabric which are are stitched together to form one long strip. It currently measures 96 feet 5 inches (2,938.78 centimetres), and is still growing…
I have written about the backstory, describing why it was made, how it was made and why it was made in the Sampler FAQ page.
In future posts I will share the close details of this section and talk about what I did and what stitches I used etc.
If you are new to this series of articles you will find all previous details in the category the Love of Stitching Band Sampler. In this section I was exploring and playing around with a few filling stitches including the TAST stitch (Take a stitch Tuesday) I announced this week – Cloud filling.
I also designed the two christmas decorations that run down the side of the sampler by using 2 photoshop brushes that I then took into cross stitch design software. This section also records what was in the news at the time. I listen to the radio as I stitch and Climate change was an on going topic.
As I have said I will describe each part of this section over the next few weeks and hope people enjoy it. Today I just wanted to introduce the section to readers.
