Needlework sampler section 51 aI have 2 more details to share today. Both are  from section 51 on my Love of Stitching Band Sampler. If you want to know more about this part of the sampler click on the thumbnail as it is a link to the article about this section.

Size, Date and Fabric

The whole sampler is 15 cm (6 inches) wide and 96 feet 5 inches or 29.3878 meters long. You can read the back story on the the Sampler FAQ page.

The fabric is a 25cnt evenweave linen

This strip of the sampler was worked between June and December of 2010.

Stitches used in this area

This detail is another variation of slipped detached chain. I turned them on their side and instead of working regular detached chain stitch in the middle  of the arms I worked oyster stitch. I also used different threads. I used perle #8 cotton, rayon and hand dyed wool. I really enjoyed the mix of threads.

Detail 697 is slipped detached chain worked in the spaces of herringbone. The herringbone is cotton perle and each chain has a little bead in the middle.
