TAST Week 11
I love Tuesday mornings as there is always a sense of anticipation wondering how people will react to the stitch of the week. For TAST week 11 the stitch is French Knots. French Knots are lovely on their own, or as little accents in part of a design. In the sample above I have worked french knots in silk ribbon.
Many people have a frustrating time learning this stitch, so visit my tutorial on How to work French Knots, as I have some tips there to help you.
Beyond TAST Week 11
Pistil stitch is a French Knot with a long tail. You guessed it The Beyond TAST challenge stitch for week 11 is Pistil stitch. You can use Pistil stitch for the centre of flowers or arrange it in a circle to make a flower motif. If you experiment with threads you can have fun as the thread thickness will determine the size of the finished stitch and the look of the flower. You can work this stitch using lots of different threads such as cotton perle #8 and #5, fine braids, some knitting yarn and silk ribbon. Experiment and have fun!
As Usual, I have a tutorial for Pistil stitch in my stitch dictionary. I hope you have fun

Next week – a Break week
Just a little housekeeping notice. Next week will be the first in the year of the break/catch up weeks. There will be 4 ‘breaks’ throughout the year. Since week 12 marks 3 months into the year, this will be our first catchup week. For those who are up to date with TAST, you can take a little break. For others who are in catchup mode, this week gives you a little time. No guilt! It is easy to fall a bit behind as we all have busy lives.
