What is sari ribbon?

Just a quick heads up to reader know that I have published another video this time answering the question What is sari ribbon?

sari ribbon

What sets sari ribbon apart from regular ribbon is that it is made up of  repurposed saris. The ribbon is made from strips of silk which come in a wonderful kaleidoscope of colours, textures, and patterns.

I really enjoy incorporating  sari ribbon into my projects by doing so it also embodies sustainability and ethical consumption.

Apart from being able to use Sari ribbon in crazy quilting, slow stitch projects, as a foundation cloth for small embroidered items,  if you twist, plat or weave them they can also be made into an interesting alternative to conventional ribbons and trims.

I was asked what sari ribbon after my last video where I used it in my fabric book. So I decided to make a short video about it. Here is a video so you can see what it looks like.

  1. Thanks so much for your constant creativity. I’ve been following you for years and have learned so much. About the sari ribbons: what do you do about the frayed edges in crazy quilting? Do you fold in to hide?
