TAST Week 27

Beaded Barb Stitch step 2

For Take a Stitch Tuesday (TAST) Week 27 I am suggesting you try Barb stitch, which is an easy variation of the buttonhole family. You can work it quickly, making experimentation fun. So you will not find it difficult to work if you know how to stitch buttonhole stitch. Then if you need a refresher for Buttonhole you will find it here. Check out the Barb stitch tutorial, as it also demonstrates how to work the beaded version too.

Take a Stitch Tuesday Week 27 Beyond TAST

Beaded Triangular buttonhole 7

The stitch for this week is an interesting variety of Buttonhole stitch, called Triangular Buttonhole stitch. Visit the tutorial for instructions. Scroll further down the page and you will see instructions on how to include beads in this stitch. Different patterns can be created by threading the beads on different parts of the stitch. With this in mind, you can experiment with various combinations of seed beads and bugle beads.

If you are new to hand embroidery the challenge is to learn the stitch and share what you have learned. If you are an experienced embroiderer, enjoy Beyond TAST and give your work a modern twist. And of course, share it online so beginners can see what can be done with a little imagination.

If you are looking for past TAST stitch challenges the archives are in the Take a Stitch Tuesday category

Where to Share

If you are doing the design challenge you have a month to work on your design and stitch it up.

So the idea is to stitch a sample, photograph it, share it in the Take a Stitch Tuesday facebook group, or use the hashtags #TASTembroidery and #PintangleTAST on Instagram.

If you need more information the challenge guidelines are on the TAST FAQ page.

I hope you enjoy your week!
