The photo below is a detail on section 49 on my Love of Stitching Band Sampler.
I have turned the photo sideways as these bands run vertically down the sampler. As a reminder here is the sampler created to celebrate the year of the Tiger.
Stitches Used:
The top two bands of textured stitches are Raised chain V1 stitch worked in hand dyed cotton perle # 5. I did not fill the bars with raised chain but pushed the chains stitches to one side. The top band has the stitches pushed towards the bottom of the photo and the band below that, has the textured chain stitches pushed toward the top of the photo. In other words the textured strips along the bands are pushed toward each other. Hope that makes sense!
The other stitches are herringbone stitch worked in a Danish cotton (that does not have a high sheen) and Cretan stitch worked in hand dyed cotton perle # 5 and you can also see some whipped back stitches worked in contrasting coloured threads.
Fabric:
The foundation fabric is a hand dyed 18cnt Aida
Date:
This section of the sampler was worked February 2010.
Size:
This area on my Love of Stitching Band Sampler which is 15 cm (6 inches) wide and currently measures 96 feet 5 inches (2,938.78 centimetres), or 32.138 yards which is 29.3878 meters. It is still growing…
