For the Love of Stitching Sampler – Band 25

Stitches: 

This band illustrates a row of Vandyke Stitch which can be found on page 119 of The Stitches of Creative Embroidery by Jacqueline Enthoven or page 135 of A-Z of Embroidery Stitches 2

Mary Corbet of Needle and thread has a video of Vandyke stitch and Primrose design has these step by step instructions of Vandyke stitch


Thread:

A hand dyed cotton crochet thread the same weight and thickness as  perle 5 DMC

Fabric:

This section of the sampler is worked on tea towel linen which is not quite an even weave.

Dyes:

Procion cold water dyes

Size:

All samples are 15 cm (6 inches) wide and stitched together in one long band sampler.

The sampler is currently 44 ft 5 inches or 533 inches (1353.83 centimetres) or 14.8 yards  (13.53 metres) long and still being added to.

Date:

This section of the sampler is dated 1996 – Jan 1998
