Block 64 is monotone and forms part of the central band of blocks that run diagonally across the I Dropped the Button Box quilt. Click on the photo of the block to see a larger version.
There is a photograph of the full quilt on the CQ details FAQ page and in that photograph you can see the diagonal bands running across the quilt I am talking about.
Today I am introducing you to this block and I hope you enjoy reading about the seam and embellishments and seeing the close details of what was done on this block.
You will notice with the fabrics I used I am not a fabric snob as there are some synthetics and one pice of horrible stretchy lace (mostly covered by the button cluster)
Fabric content:
- Piece 1: cotton
- Piece 2: Silk
- Piece 3: Silk
- Piece 4: Metallic brocade
- Piece 5: Cotton
- Piece 6: Horrible stretchy synthetic lace
- Piece 7: Nylon lace over cotton
- Piece 8: Cotton
The I Dropped the Button Box quilt is a Y2K quilt. On the quilt I used 2001 unique pieces of fabric, lace, braids, charms, buttons or ribbons. It was a way of using a sample of all the bits I had been hoarding! The on going item count are the pieces documented to date in this series of articles.
- Fabric: 8
- Lace, braid and ribbon: 4
- Buttons and charms: 10
- Total items on this block: 22
- Total tally of items on the quilt so far: 1231
This regularly published series aims to illustrate and document the hand embroidered seams, embellishments and decorations on my crazy quilt I dropped the button box.
All articles are categorised in the projects under Crazy Quilt details which enables readers to browse back through the series.

In the process of documenting the seam decorations on this quilt, as I get to each block I am diagramming it out for readers as a free crazy quilt pattern. Links to these free pattern pages are listed on the CQ details FAQ page.

I think this block really shows what a skilled block designer and quilter you are. All is blue but there is so much contrast all details stand out. Bravo!
