Double Buttonhole

Double Buttonhole finished sampleDouble Buttonhole Stitch is an often forgotten traditional stitch yet it is simple and useful. This stitch consists of two lines of Buttonhole stitch worked facing each other. As a result, it makes a great edging stitch because it is double the strength. You can not only use Double buttonhole as an edging stitch but you can also use it as a decorative stitch. It is simple to work and follows curves well. You can also combine it double buttonhole with couching. Use it to couch down thicker, bulky or novelty threads and it looks great to couch down or use over ribbons!
