This band illustrates a favourite combination of feather stitch and French knots.
Thread:
Both threads are hand dyed cotton which is about the same weight as perle thread 8 which was purchased in bulk from a weavers supplier.
Fabric:
This section of the sampler is worked on tea towel linen which is not quite an even weave.
Dyes:
Procion cold water dyes for threads.
Size:
All samples are 15 cm (6 inches) wide and stitched together in one long band sampler.
The sampler is currently 44 ft 5 inches or 533 inches (1353.83 centimetres) or 14.8 yards (13.53 metres) long and still being added to.
Date:
This section of the sampler is dated 1996 – Jan 1998

Hi Judy I do it in two passes. In fact this would be the case for all my stitching. I think in terms of a foundation row then another embellishment row. It is just the way I think/work
This is a beauty! The overdyed thread and the French Knots give it extra dimension and personality – I’ll be glad when I can get back to my needlepoint crazies.
Do you do the feather stitch and knots on separate passes, or simultaneously but from different needles?
