This section of the sampler was worked during April and May of 2008.

  1. Sarah. I think the best bet is to choose a width you like and simply start. It is easy to agonise over the design and never actually start.
The main thing is to think about the width as it is the only thing you cant change! Fabric you can change – colour etc but not width

I have seen people start band samplers that are as small as 4 inches wide and as wide as 12. Mine is 6 inches wide because I like working on an 8 inch hoop but you might be different. Work a few scrap widths ie try a line of 5 inches, 6 inches, 7 inches and so on and see what you like.

  2. I wish I lived closer and could take one of your classes! I've been watching your progress on your sampler with awe, and have been considering making my own. Any tips for someone completely new to samplers?
