While poking around the Antique Pattern Library I found a little gem from Anchor. It’s described as a small pdf but the collection of the “Anchor” Transfers for Embroidery Patterns is huge! This is a copyright free publication which at 112 pages contains a lot of patterns! There is no instructions as to what technique to use, what size to work a pattern in, or even simple stitch suggestions. If you are looking for stitch suggestions and ideas to apply to some of these pattens do check out my free online Stitch dictionary

Here are a few of the pages that attracted my eye. I even printed a few out making notes on what they could be used for. I am sharing screenshots so readers can get a sense of the sort of patterns available in this book.

The book consists of just the line drawings that are printed black and white. On some pages, there are very brief suggestions for what a pattern may be used for, listing items such as Cushions, table clothes, bed spreads etc. Generally however, it’s a no fuss simple and wonderfully adaptable resource for hand embroiderers.

The Antique Pattern Library is an interesting and free resource. If you have time to explore further do so! II warn you it can be a a bit of a time sink. I have always found something I can use or of historical interest. I mainly use resources like this a jumping off spot for a design. If you look upon books like this as a source for ideas you will never run out of things to try.

If you want to see the detail page you will find it here. The Antique Pattern Library provides a page of screenshots so you can gauge before downloading the PDF, if it is a book that interests you.
