I discovered some free Rábaközi Embroidery patterns while poking around the Internet Archive. Rábaközi Hímzések 1 is a collection of cross stitch patterns drawn from the collections of the Hungarian National Museum. The museum’s Ethnography Department have published patterns from their collection in a series of booklets. This first booklet, uploaded into the Internet Archive focuses on the embroidery of the Rábaköz area of western Hungary (Transdanubia), in the districts of Csorna and Kapuvár. The booklet is transcribed and arranged by Írta és Kézimunkázóknak Rendezte and translated by Angol Fordítások Készítette, Tibor Horváth, Helen Hough, and Linda Teslik.
The free Rábaközi Embroidery motifs in the collection are sorted by size. For anyone who has worked this type of pattern before you will know that having patterns sorted to size makes for easy design placement on your own work.
