People usually delight in this band when they spot it. These butterfly motifs are made of an arrangement of 3 detached chain stitches which are used for the wings and the body of the butterfly is worked in a bullion knot. There are all sorts of variations to be created with this ‘stitch’ you can have upper and lower wings, fine and heavy wings etc. It is lots of fun to play with.

Lovely stitch! It looks kind of simple to do, but has such a pretty effect. 🙂
