TAST Week 41

Closed Herringbone Stitch

TAST week 41 is here, and before we know it, the end of the year will have arrived. For this week, Closed Herringbone stitch is the challenge. This stitch is very useful to define a good strong line or to use in a border, or as part of an edging. You can experiment by changing the height of the stitches to use them as a fill for small shapes. Also, this stitch is wonderful to use to imitate a fine braid.

Take a Stitch Tuesday Week 41 Beyond TAST

Chained Wheatear

Chained Wheatear is a useful part of the Wheatear stitch family which quickly creates a heavier textured line. It will hold a curve well and looks best in a cotton perle thread. It also looks fantastic if you add a line of beads down the middle.

If you are new to hand embroidery the challenge is to learn the stitch and share what you have learned. If you are an experienced embroiderer, enjoy Beyond TAST and give your work a modern twist. And of course, share it online so beginners can see what can be done with a little imagination.
