Crazy quilt block 91Crazy quilt block 91 is a block in shades of blue gold and burnt yellows.  This block sits in the overall diagonal design of my I Dropped the Button Box quilt. On this block I mainly used a mix of quilters cottons.    There is 8 pieces of fabric used in this  6 inch block.

My personal challenge when I made this quilt was to use 2001 unique pieces of fabric, lace, braids, charms, buttons or ribbons as it is a Y2K quilt. The on going item count list below represents the items documented to date in this series of articles. In other words I am using this series to check the count!

Crazy quilt block 91detail 589The first photos is of 2 seam details. Feather Stitch is worked in Rayon ribbon floss and alternating buttonhole stitch in worked in cotton perle #5.

This seam was first covered with this metallic lace. I then edged it in detached chain stitches arranged in sets of 3 along the seam.

This Cretan stitch is worked in cotton Perle #5 thread and I added sequins that are secured with seed beads in the spaces between the arms of the Cretan Stitches.

I first covered this seam with braid then added seed beads along the length of the braid. Along the edge of the braid I added sets of 3 straight stitches arranged in a fan I then topped these with seed beads.

The last detail is a cluster of buttons 1 of which is vintage as the dark blue one is old. The rest are modern buttons. These buttons sit beside a line of zig zag chain stitch that I worked in cotton perle #5 thread

I dropped button box quiltIf you are new to this site the I Dropped the Button Box Quilt is set with blocks that are arranged by colour in diagonal lines.   My challenge was to have all the crazy quilt blocks reading properly while also  pulling everything on the quilt from my stash!

  3. Sharon, thank you for sharing you creations and stitches. I participated in three of your online classes a few years ago and I still refer to the materials as I go along crazy quilting.
